"Swamp Test"
The "swamp
test" is now a requirement for survey.
Scroll down for the 3.8 metre Pontoon Dinghy photos.
The following photos were taken during the testing of a 6 metre Pontoon
Boat.
The boat was loaded with in excess of 1000 kilograms of sandbags to
represent the motor
and gear of approximately 300 kilograms and 600
kilograms for 8 people of 75 kilograms,
and an extra 100 kilograms for those New Zealanders who have trouble staying at
75 kgs.

The photo on the left shows the boat after being pumped full of water as well as all the weights, and then on the right with three large men all on one side. The 1000 kgs of sandbags are still in place.

The left photo shows the many interested and willing helpers including the inspector Jim Elley from M&I Safety Inspection Services Ltd. The right photo shows the boat after being pumped out and the 1000kgs of sand bags all shifted to one side plus two good sized New Zealand men.
The following photos
were taken during the swamp testing of a 3.8 metre Pontoon Dinghy.
Both photos show the boat loaded with 420kgs of sandbags, the photo on the left
shows the boat fully swamped and still stable.
These tests were done in the fresh waters of Lake Rotorua, New Zealand.
